Richmond City Baseball Association is seeking a dynamic, responsible role-model to provide instruction and coaching for the 15U AA program under the direction of 15U AAA Head Coach Scott Lunny.
As part of RCBA’s initiative to place a greater emphasis on player development and to provide more opportunities for players wishing to play in a “rep” program, the 15U AA team is directly affiliated with our 15U AAA program.
The goal of this two-team 15U Bantam rep approach is to provide a more focused product, and wider developmental reach. Establishing and maintaining a direct relationship between AAA and AA will help first-year players potentially graduate to the AAA program as second-year players. In addition a more performance-oriented AA program will provide a greater developmental platform for second-year players that will aid in their transition from Bantam AA to potentially Midget AAA or College Prep.
15U AAA/AA will intend to run joint practices both pre-season and throughout the season when schedules permit. Working with Scott he will introduce consistent systems play and approach, so first-year AA players will find less barrier to entry into AAA as second-year players, and second-year players will receive similar developmental opportunities that will help them move on to higher levels of play the following season.
Both coaching staffs of the AAA and AA candidates will train together through Winter programming. Evaluations and tryouts will be held in the spring, and the AAA and AA rosters will be named in February.
Head Coach Scott Lunny will oversee the 15U AA team throughout the Spring and Summer Seasons. The 15U AA season starts in January with team selection try-outs and includes between 30 and 40 league, tournament and exhibition games throughout B.C., the season concludes with the Provincials Championships in early August with a possibility of representing B.C. outside of BC.
The ideal candidate is someone who is prepared to put in the necessary amount of time and energy required to coach young baseball players, enjoys teaching the game, exhibits patience, and will promote a safe and positive baseball environment under the guidance of Scott Lunny. A successful candidate will work jointly with Scott conveying a common and consistent messaging of on-field and off-field program goals to aid in the progression through this program.
Interested candidates must be willing to complete their required coaching certification for 15U AA. Also, go through the standard Richmond City Baseball Security Background Check (CRC) and provide a current Province of BC (or other Province if recently moved) driver’s abstract.
